ideally starts at the café Rio Marin.
Its a 10 min walk from Santa Lucia Station, you pass the beautiful bridge, surely crowded with all kind of visitors, to the right and you slightly escape the hype in a second.
San Polo and the neighborhood of Dorsoduro hold hidden gems.
After a Torta della casa, fresh Peach Cream Mille-Feuille and a Doppio Café you will have energy to visit the wonderful Chiesa de San Nicoló dei Mendicoli which is only 10 minutes walk from there.
Believe me, you will get more /or another energy there.
The church was also set for some famous movies like Death in Venice by Thomas Mann.
We continue direction Rialto, and stop for an Aperitivo, of course.
Spritz & Cicchetti at Bar All´Arco.
There could be that there is a queue, as it’s not only famous for tourists but locals.
Uff,.. if I just think of these raw shrimps tasting like butter on a crispy Bruschetta Bread, I am in heaven.
Take care not to order too much. And not to forget a glass Prosecco. Dinner is not less tastier but still we have got some time to walk around.
For the girls out here, a good option to leave the aperitvo place is to buy some typical Venice- Espandrilles, which are even sold in the Tobacco store or in a small shop next to Arco. You can choose between a variety of Velvet colors, but please try the size on. Venitian feet are much smaller then ours. They fit perfectly well to a summer dress or just blue jeans.
In new shoes we can continue to new Campos! Please note, that there is only one Piazza in Venice, Piazza San Marco. All the other cute squares and open spaces, round in circles with benches and trees are called Campo.
My favorite is Campo Santi Giovanni e Paolo named after the Church. It is next to the oldest and only hospital in Venice, even the building of this hospital can not be seen as functional as all the other hospitals in this world.
Pastry lovers, like me will have to stop at Rosa Salva Pasticceria. They do a wonderful Red Velvet Cake, and also they sell their homemade cookies and Honey or Limoncello.
